The butterfly walk on 5th August went very well with a dozen people joining us to find butterflies and mini-beasts. There were good numbers of common butterflies on the plain including Meadow Brown, Gatekeeper, Small Copper and all three Whites. One Brown Argus was seen, a once rare species that has been seen more frequently this year.
Star of the mini-beasts was a rather spectacular Wasp Spider in its lair. There were various Grasshoppers and Crickets leaping about in the long grass and we were able to catch and examine many of these mini-beasts in pots.
