At West Ham cemetery, Cemetery Rd, Forest Gate E7 some Newham Council staff volunteers keep 4/5 bee hives in a fenced off corner of this Newham Council cemetery, and jar up the honey during the summer.
They are looking to recruit one or two more volunteers to join their Bee Club. They can offer full training, bee suits and they have a fully equipped area for extracting the honey by centrifuge.
If you are interested in learning how to look after bees in a well organised set up please contact me Peter Williams in the first instance and I will put you in touch. The cemetery itself is an interesting wildlife have, being slightly neglected though still in use.
